Emily Helen Wright (8 Jun 1849 - 31 Dec 1938)

One of my four great-grandmothers was Emily Wright, a direct descendant of Abel Wright. Emily was born to Isaiah Wright and Eliza Keays. Eliza Keays was the sister of Wm. J. Keays whose life story is published under the link to his name on the left.

Emily's husband was Manuel Mylks. After Manuel died in 1933, Emily spent 6 months here in Niagara Falls with my grandfather, Leonard Mylks' family and 6 months in Kingston with the family of her other son, Gordon Wright Mylks.

She was terribly afraid of dying in her sleep. As a result someone always had to sit with her during the night. She was a Victorian lady, very proper and very strict. But she and the Mylks' "clan" had a strong sense of family.

Emily Helen Wright was a descendant of Abel Wright. The full genealogy of the Wrights shown here was first done by Rev. Stephen Wright of Glens Falls, N.Y up to 1889. Emily's younger brother Frederick Wright updated it to 1930 and later to 1950. A true copy of his work in Word format is available for download here (it's 2 mb).  Now, the Wright genealogy is maintained by Norm Lewis (website), great grandson of Frederick Wright.
